Modern soils can take hundreds of years to develop. Are there ancient soils in the record of Earth’s history found in the rocks?  If there are, does that fit within Young Earth Creationist’s flood models?  Some of the zones considered in these videos are caliches from the Llano Estacado in Eastern New Mexico and West Texas.  These are ancient paleosols that developed in a semi-arid climate over a long period of time.   In a two part video series, I will show evidence of paleosols that developed in sections almost always described as flood deposits by Young Earth Creation geologists. I will also show sections where they disagree, but regardless, all YEC positions have very significant problems to resolve.  Considering them post-flood deposits doesn’t solve the problems.  It creates new ones.

Here are some of the issues to be discussed:

  1. Can soils form during a flood?
  2. How do you form arid/semiarid soils during a flood?
  3. How do you deposit extensive caliches in a short period of time?
  4. How do you get humans to the Llano Estacado shortly after a flood?
  5. How do you harden flint for arrowheads in time for humans right after the flood?
